Give it away Friday - Best Bottom Diapers

Best Bottom diaper covers are cute.  Super cute.  They come in a variety of colors and patterns, and did I mention they're cute?  I was so excited when I took mine out of the package.  The material felt thick and durable.  And then I put it on Stinky, and I was totally not in love.  It wasn't about the snap in liners.  I love those!  They even have a little tag that says Best Bottom!  Perfect, because I don't have to dig through the laundry looking for the right noes!  It wasn't about the bright blue on dark brown.  I thought it was black.  It was cuter than I expected.  It wasn't even about the slippery feel of the inside of the liner.  I actually loved that!  It made it seem so wipe-able!

Nope.  It was that the Best Bottom cover isn't stretchy.  And Stinky...well, he's...he's like that tea pot.  You know...short and stout?  And since the Best Bottom doesn't have much give, it's a little hard to get onto him.  I love the "One Size" feature.  It's one of my favorite diaper features.  But I really wonder whether the Best Bottom will last until potty training.  He's got room to get taller, but he's on the next to last snap on each side, and he's 13 months.  They fit great now, but I worry a little.  With any luck, Stinky will slim down as he gets more mobile.  He's not walking yet, so there's a good chance.  And if he slims down, problem solved!

That said, I still love the Best Bottom covers and liners!  I do!  The liners are SUPER absorbent!  Seriously.  My first test for a new diaper is ALWAYS overnight.  I don't know why.  I just like to get that out of the way right off the bat.  And the Best Bottom?  A-maz-ing for overnights.  Best Bottom has a doubler option, but we don't have the doublers and we don't need them!  The inserts are great on their own!

I love covers because they can be reused when the inserts are just wet.  I'd love to try that with the Best Bottoms, but for some reason Stinky poops EVERY time he wears them!  No kidding.  He's probably worn them a dozen times, and every time he's had a messy poop.  We haven't had the chance to try reusing them, but the leg gussets have held everything in!  They're great!

They're cute as can be and really trim fitting!  Best Bottoms fit, and fit well, under even Stinky's slimmest blue jeans!

Zookies Diaper Cover: Review and Giveaway!

I've been a part-time cloth diaperer for about 3 months now...well, full-time with some set-back would be more accurate.  I love cloth diapering!  It's so much less stinky than disposable.  It really does save money--if you do it "cheaply" anyway.  And it's fun to be "different" (although I see more and more people getting on board)!  I've only used covers and prefolds so far, but I love them!  They're SUPER easy!

A few weeks ago I was offered the opportunity to do a review and giveaway of a Zookies diaper cover!  I can't tell you how excited I was, especially after really looking over the fabrics!  I got to choose my size, fabric, and closure type.  Stinky needed a medium, and I have only snap closures so I chose hook and loop to give it a try.  I had the kids help me, and we chose dancin dinos!

We received the cover within just a few days of ordering it.  Zookies ships so quickly!  We had a family reunion the next day and I wanted to save the cover to show off there, but I couldn't resist putting it on him and taking a few pictures.  Look how cute it is! 

The fit is absolutely perfect!  Medium covers go from 15-25 pounds.  Stinky is just over 20 pounds and we can snug the cover up pretty tightly...with maybe an inch of the velcro showing.  He's got TONS of room to grow, even in the medium (unless he suddenly gets really tall)!  The legs don't pinch and he doesn't get red marks.  The fit is so much nicer than the OS covers I've been using!  I didn't think I'd want sized covers because I'd have to get more later on, but I really really like the fit of them!

I haven't had a single leak with my Zookies cover.  In fact, Stinky had a tummy virus and I switched to sposies because I didn't love the idea of washing the diapers.  I got SO tired of the wardrobe changes, though, that I switched back to my prefolds and covers.  My Zookies covers were my absolute first choice and even the messiest diapers never leaked! 

My only complaint (and it's a minor one) with the cover was that after one washing it didn't look brand new.  I am used to covers with snaps and didn't realize that the hook and loop can sometimes cause lint to form on the diapers!  So, after a dozen or so washings, the top edge looks like this:

Like I said, it's a VERY minor problem.  It doesn't effect the functionality of the diaper cover at all. 

I loved the cover with the hook and loop so much I decided to order a snap cover to compare!  Again, the kids and I sat down and looked at all the options and finally agreed on the baby beluga.  What an excellent choice!  I don't think the picture online shows how adorable this cover is!

Even in my picture the colors aren't nearly as bright as real life! 

The snap cover has washes beautifully!  I haven't had any trouble with lint at all.  I've washed it several times and it still looks brand new.  I haven't had a single leak with this cover, either!  I am so impressed.  Not only are these covers adorable, but they work great too! 

The only issue I have at all with the snap cover (and again, it is a super minor one!) is that in order to snap the cover tight enough around his belly, the elastic around the edges of the flaps kind of flip in a bit. 

BUT that's so minor, it's hardly even worth mentioning!  Of course, this particular picture is with him "double diapered" for bedtime.  The flipping is so much less with a single prefold on the inside!

The Zookies covers are super trim!  Stinky can easily wear the same pants he wears with a disposable diaper.  The patterns are adorable.  Michele from Zookies just recently added new prints, too!

In all, I give Zookies covers 2 thumbs way up!  I LOVE both of my covers, but the dancin dinos with the hook and loop closure is my favorite.  I think the velcro gives a better fit overall.  If I could buy one in each pattern I would!  No kidding.

Sneak Preview!!
