Earth Month - ComfyRumps Diaper giveaway!

CLOSED

I was recently contacted by ComfyRumps diapers to review one of their diapers!  Of course, I said yes immediately, and then went about the crazy task of choosing which I'd like to try.  I finally settled on the Orange Fuzzy Wuzzy.  I am soo glad I did!  I love it!

I'll start by saying that I love the price of these diapers.  They're just $7.75!  That's unheard of for a pocket diaper!  They are one size and they come with an insert.  Again, great!

The fit of the ComfyRumps diaper is pretty good.  On Stinky, I have it on the highest rise but the snaps in as far as they go without overlapping, as you can see below.  I would rather unsnap them a bit, but then they're too loose, so we go with slightly snug.  It's okay, though, because the fabric is stretchy, so he doesn't notice a pull!  There have never been any red marks on his belly or thighs, either.

These diapers are trim!  They're super trim.  They're so thin, in fact, that I was concerned they wouldn't hold in ANYTHING.  I was so wrong, though!  The absorbency is great!  I love that they fit so easily under Stinky's blue jeans!  I don't like the width of the ComfyRump crotch as well as some diapers...it's a little wider than I think looks comfortable...but Stinky doesn't complain!

I'l admit, I haven't used the ComfyRumps diapers overnight.  I'm afraid to...but that's not ComfyRump specific.  That's diaper specific.  Stinky has become a very heavy wetter, and if he wets through he wakes up.  Usually at 4am.  And stays up.  His mommy, however, doesn't like to get up and stay up at 4:30, so she's been stuck using a couple of standbys that she knows will work.  Based on daytime and naptime absorbency, they'd likely work for a light-medium nighttime wetter.  With an additional insert...or a couple of additional inserts...I think they'd be great even for heavy wetters overnight!

Thank you, ComfyRumps, for the chance to review your diapers!

Earth Month - Kid's CuteTure Wet Bag

CLOSED

Several weeks ago I gave a shout out to one of my new favorite Etsy shops, Kid's CuteTure!

You'll remember that there was a special sale on some adorable knit hats!  (I just checked...there are still some available for as low as $7 plus shipping!)  I received this super cute hat for Little Lou as part of this great sale:

If you looked at the shop, you probably noticed that Elisha sells a wonderful array of baby products along with her crocheted items!  I was so intrigued by her shop!  Her products all look so wonderful!

After talking with Elisha at some length, she agreed to send me an XL wet bag/pail liner for review!  I chose green and I LOVE it!  It's almost an exact match to the meadow color I've seen from some other companies. It is absolutely beautifully made!  Elisha sewed her first wet bag because she didn't care for the one she had purchased.  She hit the jackpot!  Her bag is amazing!  I use the bag as a pail liner.  I have a kitchen trash can with a flip-top lid in my bathroom and was previously wiping the inside of the can after each load of diapers went into the washer.  The bag is a GREAT fit, with plenty of length to spare should I ever get a larger trash can!  What a time saver (and clorox wipe saver!) the wet bag has been already!

This wet bag comes with a drawstring, which I've used only to make sure it works.  Our laundry closet is in the bathroom, so I don't have far enough to go that I need to cinch it shut.  I can imagine, though, that when we go to Mammaw's house or the beach or anywhere else, this will be VERY handy!  We're planning a camping trip this summer, and I plan on packing my XL wet bag for any wet clothes and towels!

The construction of the bag is very very good quality.  I would say that it easily rivals any commercially made bags I have seen.  The material feels thick to me.  I was concerned that a pail liner would have thin, easily torn material, but this is great!  It's really sturdy!  I can't tell you how impressed I am with this bag.  AND I haven't had a single leak with it!

Thank you, Kid's CuteTure, for making such great products, and making them affordable!  You've definitely made a believer out of me!  I can't wait to shop in your store again!

If you'd like to give one of Elisha's wet bags a try, you can purchase one here at Kid's CuteTure on Etsy!

OR

If you're feeling lucky, you can enter to win one right here on my blog!  Elisha has agreed to give one reader a choice of either a Large wet bag in any of her available colors OR an XL wet bag in white or turquoise!
(Contest will end and a winner will be drawn on April 22, 2011 at 11:59am EST.)

Please be sure to leave your email address on each entry so I can find you easily!

Earth Month - Little Green Books Review and Giveaway

CLOSED

My daughter LOVES to read.  Loves.  She's in kindergarten and her favorite books are chapter books.  Junie B. Jones, Absolutely Lucy, Ramona Quimby...it doesn't matter, as long as it has words, and lots of 'em.  Little Lou was extremely excited, therefore, when we opened the package from Little Green Books and found not one but FIVE books!  (I don't think she was as excited as I was, though!)

I want to make an impact, not just on the world around me, but on my own three munchkins as well.  You see, they've been entrusted to me for a time.  While I have them, I'd like to show them how to best use the resources available.  Little Green Books makes teaching kids about conservation a little bit easier for parents!

As I mentioned, we were send five books.  Since I have everything from a not-quite toddler to a chapter book reading lunatic kindergartener, I received a variety pack, of sorts.  For Stinky, we got Little Monkey.

Little Monkey is a cute little 50% recycled Polartec fleece book about (surprise!) a monkey.  The book is completely washable, which makes it perfect since my littlest monkey is teething BIG time.  He loves to look at the pictures in the book, but his favorite thing to do with it is to put in on his head like a hat.  (I wish I had a picture of that!)  See...even babies like to "re-purpose" things!

For Little Lou (again, 5 years old), we received Easy to Be Green.

Easy to Be Green is a really neat activity book for "older kids" (ages 4-8).  It's written on 100% recycled paper using vegetable-based ink!  The book is absolutely full of ideas and activities that kids can do to help save the Earth.  I LOVE that there are dot to dots and mazes and "educational" activities along with the useful ideas of how to change the world.  I think this would be an excellent book for a homeschooling family to use in science classes!  I can already think of some friends who I will be suggesting this one to!

And finally, we received three books that, although board books, are more of "universal" books at my house. I can't classify them for any specific child because, honestly, all three of them love board books...as so does their mommy!  We were sent What do you See? which is a really cute lift-a-flap guessing game book,

My First Garden, a neat little basket-shaped book about things we can grow ourselves,

and This is Our World, a puzzle book with pieces that come off of the pages and form actual puzzles!

I like to use this book, in particular, when talking about how everyone needs to pitch in and help.  Since Little Lou is pretty good at puzzles but Bugsy isn't, they have to work together to finish the puzzles!  I like showing that that, just like with the puzzles, we have to work together to make the world a "greener" place!

I LOVE my Little Green Books!  The more I read them, the more they grow on me.  I love the website, too! Whether you own any Little Green Books or not, you can go to their website and play games, find tips, learn more about recycling, and so much more!  There are parent and teacher pages.  I could go on all day.  I love Little Green Books!

You can visit Little Green Books to see the full line of books and retailers!  While you're there, check out all the other great site features!

Little Green Books is so devoted to teaching kids about greener living through their books, that they've agreed to send books to THREE of my lucky winners!  That's right!

One luck Grand Prize Winner will receive a copy of EACH of the books I received!  That's five books!
One second prize winner will receive their choice of THREE of the books I received!
And one lucky third prize winner will get to choose any ONE of the books I received!

(Contest will end and a winner will be drawn April 22, 2011 at 11:59am EST.)

Earth Month - Blissful Booty Review and Giveaway

CLOSED

About a week ago I received my first Blissful Booty diaper in the mail.  (I say my first because if I have anything to do with it, it won't be my last!)  I have to admit, I'm always excited to open my fluffy mail.  I was really excited when I realized I'd not only received a diaper, but two inserts, two wipes, and a bottle of wipe spray concentrate as well!  What an amazingly fluffy package!

Of course, as usual, I immediately washed the diaper.  I also immediately made up my first batch of wipe spray.  I've just been using water on my wipes, so I was really excited to give the spray a try!

I was not at all disappointed with my Blissful Booty!  I've got to tell you, these diapers look luxurious.  They're super soft on the inside.  The sizing is just right.  Stinky's pushing 23 pounds now, and in a large diaper he has plenty of room to grow, but it hugs him snugly at the same time.

I'm not sure that makes sense entirely, but that's exactly how it is!  The Blissful Booty is a FANTASTIC daytime diaper for Stinky!  It's so soft and expertly made.  The hook and loop is sturdy and holds tightly.  The extra inserts make it extremely customizable for both boys and girls!  And double leg gussets!  Did I mention those?  I am in love with double leg gussets.  LOVE the poop-stop-ability!  They're great!

Unfortunately, Stinky's become a very heavy wetter overnight.  I've tried several different combinations with the Blissful Booty and it still doesn't seem to work for him.  I've yet to try it with inserts other than the Blissful Booty inserts, and I think that when I do it will likely be an excellent choice even for overnights.  There's plenty of room for me to add to the "stuffing" so I think we'll find it to be a very useful diaper for overnight with additional inserts! finally works!  That's right!  Cathy from Blissful Booty emailed me and told me I hadn't wrapped the wings far enough around Stinky's waist, and that he should probably be using the crossover tabs.  I tried it last night and this morning, Stinky was totally dry!  In fact, he had breakfast and played for a little bit and was STILL dry!  Thank you, thank you, Blissful Booty!  I loved the diaper before, but now it's made it to the top of my list!  YAY!!  (And I must mention, the personal attention and "tutoring session" made me feel extra special.  Thanks for your help, Cathy!)

The wipe spray is amazing!  We received the Coco Mango and it smells delicious!  It's nice to have that little bit of luxury on the wipe when I use it to clean Stinky's bottom.  And Blissful Booty wipes are super soft!

You can buy your very own Blissful Booty diaper here for just $17.99!  There's also a new Blissful Booty Ultra that has the the best of both the hook and loop and snap worlds for just $19.99!

Blissful Booty Diaper

I'm going to start this party off with a diaper!  Yay!  You know the normal drill...I give you a review, you enter to win a diaper.  But I'm going to mix things up a little since this is a special month!  If you'd like 3 extra entries into the Blissful Booty diaper, you need to visit Blissful Booty and tell me something interesting about the company!  I'm doing this first so that you have a chance to really learn something new!  These extra entries will be available through the length of the giveaway!  Want two more extra entries?!?  Just complete this task before I post the giveaway tomorrow!  I'll tell you what to label your entries when I get the giveaway up!

I'll post my review tomorrow, after Stinky wears the diaper for one more night.

And for a little added fun, the giveaway will stay open all the way until Earth Day, April 22nd!

April!

Happy April, everyone!

You've noticed, I'd sure, that I've been absent this week.  It's been crazy busy and I've been trying to keep my head from spinning!  Not only have I been living a crazy life this week, but I've been preparing for our Earth Month promotion!  I've got tons of great stuff lined up for this month, so I hope you're ready!

I have a review and/or giveaway planned for each day, Monday through Friday, for the month of April!  Sadly, though, some of the products are still en route.  Therefore, I will begin with just Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and as more items make their way, I'll fill them back in.

(I'll be throwing in some less eco-friendly items here and there...bear with me.  This is my first "event" and scheduling got a little haywire!)

Good luck!  I hope you all win something awesome!
