Here comes the fun!

We're expecting a huge ice storm starting any minute!  Are you?  We've got enough bread to last a normal family a month, at least 4 jars of peanut butter, 4 boxes of pop tarts, and I am pretty sure I saw some beefaroni.  We've "moved" temporarily to an undisclosed location, so if (when) the power goes out, we'll at least be able to huddle around the stove!  We've got 4 or so days of sweats and jammies and whatever warm clothes I could find. All of our electronic devices are plugged in and charging so that even if we don't have power, we can call our friends to tell them about it and play video games on our ipods/ipad.  The flashlights are freshly batteried and there are more batteries waiting should we need them.  We're ready(ish).

I'm telling you this because we're expecting widespread power outages.  Even though the computer is charged and ready, the internet will be unusable if we don't have power.  Sadly, that will mean I won't be able to blog about our icy adventures!

It also means that, should we still be powerless by Friday, I won't be able to post some AWESOME AWESOME giveaways!  You won't want to miss them, though, so be watching!

What it DOESN'T mean is that you'll miss the GIANT hamburger my kids made this morning.  Just wait...I'll be posting it sometime in the next day or two or five...or sometime.  It's amazing.  I'll be sure to include you in as much of the impending craziness as possible!

In the meantime, please PLEASE stay warm and stay safe!  Don't go out in this weather unless you have to!  Snuggle extra with your little ones. They deserve it anyway, but how often do we get a chance to really devote entire days to them??  And pray for the people around you!

Dear Lord, we have a bad storm coming.  We KNOW you created the storm, and we know you can calm it.  Please be gracious to our towns, our counties, our states.  Please help our emergency crews and shelters to be able to deal quickly and appropriately no matter what situations arise.  Please keep us safe and warm, particularly our young, our elderly, and our ill.  Give us all the means to make it through, no matter how long this storm lasts.  Protect our homes and our properties.  Give use the patience and understanding to help our children through these days!  No matter what happens in the hours and days ahead of us, help us to remember that You are right here with us, in our homes, our shelters, our hospitals.  Protect us from harm.  We love you, Lord.  In your name we pray, Amen.

Reminds me of hurricane preparedness. We have 2 big ones in 2004 and one big one in 2005 and lost power with all of them. Restored quickly in 2004, but in 2005 we were without it (a/c and internet...we live in South Florida) for 5 days. The awesomeness of this was God moved a cold front in right after Wilma....so we had fun camping out in our house, grilling out the meat from our freezer and family vacation since hubby was home from work that whole time!!

Praying you stay warm and safe and make great memories!

Denise, I joked this morning that I was packing up and moving to Tampa. I can't remember where you are in Florida, but you would have made room for us, right?!?
