I love Oeko Popo! Review and Giveaway

You all know I'm a cloth diaper lover, for a variety of reasons.  I think they're cute.  I like that I don't have to buy them over and over and over just to throw them away.  I like that Stinky feels when he's pottied.  AND I like that they're WAY more breathable than disposable diapers!  Juliane, from Oeko Popo Diapers, has done an experiment to test just how the breathability compares!  Some of you will be surprised.  Check out her video!

Speaking of Oeko Popo, Juliane contacted me several months ago and asked if I'd like to review her diapers!  Um...yes?  I checked out her page and they were SO cute, and different than diapers I'd seen before, so of course, I agreed and she sent me this adorable versatility cover!

The Oeko Popo Versatility cover (Size 2 OS) can be used as a cover over fitteds, prefolds, flats, etc., OR it can be used with Oeko Popo's unique inserts to make it function as an AI0/AI2, OR with a pocket sleeve to make it a pocket!  This puppy is truly versatile!

On the left, you see the cover.  The pocket sleeve is in the middle (cinched down a bit for Stinky).  The insert is on the right.

I use the Oeko Popo Versatility diaper differently depending on what we're  doing that day.  Stinky's a heavy  wetter, and my favorite "insert" is a flat, pad-folded.  I LOVE that the Versatility is perfect for adequately covering his flat!  (That's what he's wearing as I type!)  Earlier today, He wore the same cover, with the pocket sleeve and insert.  It's really easy to stuff the sleeve!

Then just snap it into the cover, and you're good to go!  There is a snap at each corner of the sleeve, so it doesn't move a bit once it's in the diaper!

The pocket sleeve creates a double gusset!  Most of the time, when Stinky is...Stinky...I can just unsnap the sleeve from the cover and either insert a new sleeve, a new insert, or another type of insert!  It's great!  I love this feature.

These next couple pictures are a little different.  They're green.  That's right.  I liked the first Oeko Popo Versatility cover SO much, that I bought a second one!  It was just too cute!  The fabric is nice and thick and durable, but not so thick it's stiff or rigid!  Anyway, one feature I really like about the Oeko Popo Versatility cover is the snap pattern!  I've never seen anything quite like it.  Most of the snaps on the front of the diaper are "female" like you see with most diapers, but a few of them are "male."  (Obviously, then, the ones on the tabs are the opposites.)  This allows for a much more custom fit than most of the one size diapers I've tried!  I LOVE this!  The only thing I wish were different (about this whole diaper, honestly) is I wish it had 4 snaps on the tabs rather than 3, so the wings would droop just a tad less.  There's not much droop at all, but I guess I'm just sort of paranoid!

Even though the Versatility is the "extra wide" version of the Oeko Popo diaper, it fits Stinky GREAT through the crotch!  He's got room to spare, for sure, but the fabric is so soft and flexible it doesn't irritate him or bunch up!

People, the Oeko Popo Versatility Cover is my go-to diaper.  It is always the first on Stinky's booty out of the wash.  Sometimes it's with a flat, sometimes with just the insert (which snaps in too, by the way) or sometimes with the pocket sleeve and insert.  The Versatility is cute, durable, well-made, and virtually leak-proof, as long as you have enough absorbency for your child!  (Any diaper will leak if you don't have enough absorbency, though!)

If you have a baby in cloth, you need this diaper.  You definitely won't be disappointed!

The Oeko Popo shop is closed until March 8, but after that will be re-stocked and ready to go!  Be watching.  You'll be glad you did!

After all, what can be cuter than this:

Other than maybe this:

Are you dying to give Oeko Popo a try?  You should be!  In fact, Juliane from Oeko Popo would love to help you start your Oeko Popo stash!  One of my lucky readers will win a $25 Oeko Popo gift code!  Will it be you?  You can't win if you don't enter!  Use the rafflecopter form below.  When you win, you'll be able to take adorable pictures like this:

(Yep.  He's the baby.  Teaching him early.)

I was given one of these diaper and insert sets free in order to facilitate a review, but purchased the other.  I was not compensated in any other way.  All opinions are 100% my own!

It's time! WunderUnders Review and Giveaway

It's that time again, folks!  The stage is set, the players are all in their spots, the lights are low, and the curtain is ready to be drawn!  That's right...it's show time!  (Or in our house...POTTY TIME!)

Yep, it's true.

Stinky is 21 months old.  Can you believe it, because I sure can't!  He's loud at home and doesn't speak in public.  He's goofy as can be.  He LOVES to dance and "sing."  He's got over 100 words now!  (I know, I made a spreadsheet.)  He likes black beans and animals (from a distance) and flushing the potty.

Flushing the potty?  Yep.  It's a favorite game of his.  He's sneaky.  We watches for someone to inadvertently leave the door ever-so-slightly ajar, and then he pounces.  When I catch him, he tugs at the top of his pants and says, "Potty?"  I put him on the potty.  He fusses and whines and gets down.  Rinse.  Repeat.

So, here's what I decided.  If your 21 month old can SAY potty, and knows that if he's by the potty he should pull down his pants, and warns you as soon as he has a poopy diaper, and cries if his diaper is even slightly soiled, he's probably ready.  Ready for what, you ask??

Ready for Big Boy Undies!

But then there's the problem of the mess.  And just because he THINKS he's ready for Big Boy Undies, and just because he LIKES Big Boy Undies, that doesn't mean that my carpets are really in the mood for the kind of deep cleaning that would be required, know what I mean?  So we're at that awkward stage of potty training.  You know, the place where Stinky likes to sit on the potty (sometimes) with or without clothes.  The place where Stinky likes to notify me just a smidge too late, "I poo."  The place where undies sound amazing (to mommy AND baby) but they're not so amazing in practice.  The place where you could really use something like

You haven't heard of WunderUnders?  That's too bad.  WunderUnders are an essential potty training product that you won't believe you've lived without!  What are they?  They're adorable training underwear!

Danielle from WunderUnders understands that not only are no two children at the same point in the potty training process, but no two children are the exact same size or shape, either!  Danielle custom makes a variety of types of trainers, specifically to fit your child!  We tried out a Hybrid Trainer with Accident Inserts and Optional Side Snaps.  Since Stinky's still at the very beginning of training, but lets me know when he's pottied, he doesn't typically need a diaper-like absorbency for daytime anymore.  The accident inserts are perfect!  They leave his bum dry but let him feel the wetness.  We need the side snaps for now because, as you know, pulling icky undies up and down is not pleasant!  As Stinky gets better at this potty thing, though, He'll get to a point where we don't need snaps any more.  The trainer we have can easily be pulled up and down, but Danielle also makes snapless trainers that are perfect for the "almost there" stage!  (Don't worry, if you love the look of WunderUnders but don't want to have to deal with the snap in inserts, Danielle makes pocket and all-in-one trainers as well!)

Even though the trainers are specially made, though, that doesn't mean that you can't use the same trainers if you're training two kids at a time!  Danielle has two children herself, a boy and a girl.  They're different ages, different sizes, even different genders, but they can sometimes wear the same trainers!  Don't be afraid that just because they're custom made they won't fit your little one for a long time!

Danielle's son, 13 months, in Elephant Walk WunderUnders

Danielle's daughter, 3 1/2, in the same pair of WunderUnders!

So, you want to know what I think of WunderUnders, right?

Here goes.  I LOVE that Danielle posts a measuring "how to" right on her facebook page!  Since the trainers are custom made, and everyone measures differently, it's important to know exactly what she's looking for when you send her your numbers.

I LOVE that there are about 80 bajillion fabric choices!  You get to choose your own panel, side, and trim colors!  You can make your trainers as colorful or plain as you want them to be.  I actually told Danielle which middle panel fabric I wanted, and then a couple choices for the sides and trim, and gave her the freedom to create what would look best.  I LOVE what she ended up with!

The quality of the trainers is amazing.  Target could sell these.  I'm not even kidding here, people.  I wouldn't be surprised to one day walk into a department store and see WunderUnders hanging on a rack.  They look amazing.  The fabric feels like high quality fabric.  The stitching is perfect.  They're SO well made.  I am very impressed!

They absorb!  I mentioned that they'll definitely hold one pee and I'm pretty sure he's gotten a couple in there once or twice before I've caught him.  They even hold up when he's playing, like, you know, a little boy!  I haven't tried our trainer for overnights, and I won't until he's getting close to nighttime trained, but WunderUnders has a nighttime insert as well!  I'm sure that, based on the absorbency we've found with out trainer, the overnights will be great as well!

The fit is, overall, fantastic.  I really like that the hybrid trainer isn't tight around Stinky's thighs.  I love that it sits just below Stinky's pudgy toddler belly.  It has never left a red mark anywhere on Stinky's little body!  The only problem I have with fit is that I didn't measure well.  I'm a measuring newbie, and I measured Stinky's rise just a tad shorter than it actually is.  While the trainer covers him completely, it's just a little short, and when he has a particularly messy poo, it doesn't hold well.  That's not a trainer issue AT ALL, though.  That's totally a mommy error!

I LOVE the snap in liner of the WunderUnders hybrid trainers!  I love that it isn't a "single use" trainer.  Since early potty trainers tend to potty a LOT and need to be changed very frequently, it's great to see a trainer that adapts to that need!  It would be a great idea to have 3 or 4 of the covers and 15 or 20 of the inserts!  I know that may sound a little excessive, but I have potty trained 2 others (of my own) and know that the tiniest tinkle deserves immediate response in the eyes of a potty training toddler!

Did I mention they're cute as can be??

The only (tiny) issue I have with WunderUnders is that the elastic trim is a little pilly after about 6 or 7 washes.  I have a feeling that is a common problem with these soft elastic trims that some diapers have.  I will GLADLY trade the soft trim for a little pilling any day, though!  There is no scratching.  There are no rough spots to irritate Stinky's legs or waist.  It's worth the slight pilling to have a soft trainer!

Would I recommend the WunderUnders trainers?  ABSOLUTELY!  I love the quality, the options, the fit...I love WunderUnders!

You can find WunderUnders on Facebook.  Danielle has created a great page with links to her pricing lists, her fabric choices, her sizing guide, and more!

Danielle has also very generously offered to give one of you a free pocket trainer of your very own!  (Enter below on the easy Rafflecopter form.  Contest will end and a winner will be drawn 12/21/11 at 11:59pm EST.)

Go Green Pocket Diaper Review and Giveaway

Do you have a favorite cloth diaper?  You know, a go-to diaper that you reach for very first every time diapers are clean?  I do...and then I don't...and then I do...  You get it.  You see, the thing is, every time I get a new diaper, with new features, it's super awesome and it's my favorite EVER, even if just for a day.  They all have their advantages and disadvantages, their highs and lows.  Most of them serve their purpose well, some better than others, some not.  But they're ALL my favorite, for a little while.

The Scoop

One diaper that's made it into my rotation fairly recently and stayed there for several weeks is the GoGreen Champ.

GoGreen Pocket Diapers is a great company that sells, well, pocket diapers!  (They sell accessories, too, like wet bags, wipes, and the brand new adapt-a-snap.)  GoGreen sent a Cherry Champ and an adapt-a-snap for review!

The Good

The snaps.  The snaps of the Champ from GoGreen are color-coded.  I really like that!  I get confused on some diapers about which set of snaps I should use, but it's easy with the GoGreen Champ!  I know the hip snap always goes on orange and tab snaps always go on blue.  I hope he never grows, because I'll have to figure it out again!

The size.  Stinky has TONS of room to grow!  He wears the Champ on the highest rise, but he could definitely use the middle rise.  I just like to put him on the highest rise in most diapers for my own sanity.  He's also still got another hip snap, and even if he gets too big for that, he's got 3 more sets of tab diapers!  I really like that.  I am confident that a very small baby could also wear the GoGreen Champ, even though I don't have a tiny baby to try it on.

The adapt-a-snap.  This thing ROCKS!  I typically use snaps instead of velcro.  I like that adapt-a-snap gives me the option!  You just snap the adapters onto the diaper and it becomes a velcro diaper!  I was very surprised to find I like the velcro on the GoGreen Champ.  I was able to customize the diaper so well with the velcro!  I also liked that I could take the velcro off the diaper so there are no annoying diaper chains in my laundry.  The velcro doesn't wear out, either, because it's not being washed every time it's used.  I really think the Champ with the adapt-a-snap is the best of both worlds!

No leaks!  I'll admit, I don't typically use the insert that came with the GoGreen Champ.  I used it the first few times and it worked great.  I'm just not a big fan of microfiber.  As a result of the flats and handwashing challenge, I found that I LOVE flats!  I often use the GoGreen Champ as a cover for a flat.  I have never had a single leak, whether I've used it as a pocket diaper with the GoGreen insert or with a flat.

(Yes, even when he gets up and waddles away before I can finish dressing him, he gets away leak free!)

The price.  These bad boys are fantastic and won't break the bank!  At just $16 for a OS pocket diaper, you can easily buy 3-4 (at least!) for the price you'd pay in a month for disposables!

The Bad

The insert.  Because it's microfiber.  It's a personal thing.  It works well, I'm just not a fan of microfiber.

Gussets.  This may be silly since I've already told you I've never had a leak, but I wish the GoGreen Champ had double gussets.  I just think that, if he were a tiny baby with newborn poop, he'd be a lot more likely to leak and I like the security of a double gusset.

The Outcome

I really like the GoGreen Champ!  It's in my regular rotation and it's going to stay there!  (Actually, it's in my diaper pail right now.)  GoGreen is a great diaper, especially for the price!

The Giveaway

GoGreen Pocket Diapers has generously agreed to give one of my lucky readers a GoGreen Champ (your choice of boy/girl/neutral) AND an adapt-a-snap (choice of black or white)!  Someone's going to be very very happy!  Simply use the rafflecopter form below to enter!

Give it away Friday: LolliDuo Diapers!

Stinky is a heavy wetter.  Very heavy.  Particularly at night.  He's been in cloth diapers for almost a year, now (I know, hard to believe!) and I have yet to find the "perfect" nighttime diaper for the little guy.  I don't even care if it has to be so bulky that he looks like he's wearing a basketball in his pants!  It doesn't matter to me, as long as he doesn't wake up soaking wet!

The Scoop

In 2004, two women met by chance in an online attachment parenting forum.  They were both discontent with the diapering options out there, and set out to create their own perfect diaper.  After searching and researching they discovered that the "perfect" cloth diaper fabric would be one that was truly recyclable, sustainable, and gentle on the skin.  What better recyclable material is there than plastic bottles?  Since the couldn't diaper their babies in plastic bottles, they decided to use recycled fleece made from those bottles!  Not only is fleece soft and gently, but it leaves baby's skin feeling dry as can be!  After playing with a lot of names, the two settled on LolliDoo!

Alison, one of the founding mamas at LolliDoo, graciously agreed to send me a newly named LolliDuo to test, particularly to see if it would solve our overnight issues!

The Good

The squish factor.  The LolliDuo is THE softest diaper I have ever felt!  I am not exaggerating one bit when I say that when I first opened the package I was on the phone with my sister, and I said to her, "I wish my underwear were this soft!  I want to wear this diaper!"  She may not remember that, but I wrote it down.  It's true.  They're SO soft next to Stinky's bum!

The absorbency.  I was sent three Organic Innies to go along with my LolliDuo.  They're thin.  Super thin.  So I wasn't sure they'd work.  They do!  During the day I typically use one or two innies, depending on what we're doing.  Overnight I use all three.  I have NEVER had a leak.  No once.  I'm always excited when it's diaper laundry day, because it means I get to use the LolliDuo again!

The adjustability.  The LolliDuo is a one size diaper with a great, unique adjustment system.  There is elastic with buttons inside the diaper to adjust the height.  The waist is adjustable with the velcro.  I have to admit, I didn't even THINK to adjust the height for stinky until yesterday.  It was set on the factory-standard setting.  Yesterday, though, I got looking and discovered that I could make it longer!  I still don't have it as big as it gets, and he's 18 months, 26 pounds.  I think that's great!  He's got plenty of room to grow!

The cute factor.  LolliDuos are adorable!  They're fluffy.  They're everything you'd expect in a cloth diaper.

The Bad

Pilling.  This is a silly thing to note as "bad."  They're fleece, right?  You know what happens when you wash fleece?  It pills.  The LolliDuo acts like fleece.  End of story.

The Outcome

I am in love.  I have found my nighttime solution!  In the LolliDuo, Stinky's jammies stay dry all night!  He wakes up happy and I don't have to pick up an icky smelly baby in the morning.  It's a little fluffier than some of my other diapers, so I have to be more careful about what pants go over the top, but it's exactly what we've needed!  I highly, HIGHLY recommend the LolliDoo LolliDuo for anyone, but especially if you have difficult overnight wetting issues!  Way to go, LolliDoo!  You've made this mama (and her little sweetie) very happy!

The Giveaway

This time, EVERYONE wins!  That's right!  PLEASE take advantage of a great 10% discount, available only to my readers!  Use the code MyThisAndThatLife at checkout between now and October 31 to claim your discount!

LolliDoo has also very generously agreed to send a LolliDuo to one of my super duper lucky readers!  You will be so impressed with this diaper, you'll wish you could use them every day (or night)!

I was given this product at no cost to me in order to facilitate a review.  I was not compensated in any other way.  All opinions are my own.

RearZ...some of the softest gear for your baby's rear! Review and Giveaway!

I don't know a lot about fitted diapers.  We only have a few, and I'm not "good" at them yet.  I don't know how long Stinky should be able to wear one without a cover or a change.  I don't know (exactly) how they're "supposed" to fit.  I DO know that I like the way they breathe.  I like that Stinky's booty gets a "break" in fitteds.  If you know his rash history, I'm sure you'd agree that his little rear could use a vacation!

The Scoop

I was recently offered the opportunity by RearZ to review one of their French Velour Fitted diapers!  I've been eyeballing these babies for a while now, and was super excited to be able to give one a trial run!  I was attracted to the soft look of the diapers and their patent-pending V snap design, which is unlike anything I've ever seen!  (Please forgive the randomness of rafflecopter.  I can't get the widget to move to the end of my post today, for some reason!)

The Good

The V snaps.  I'll start with those right off the bat.  I was worried about that, to be honest.  Snaps on diapers are supposed to go straight across, or so I thought.  I wasn't sure about the part of the design that left one snap per side, either.  I'm always concerned about wing droop, and I was SURE a single snap wouldn't be enough.  I was SO wrong, though!  I'm very impressed with the way the diaper hugs Stinky's backside!  I think the way the wings wrap around to reach those V snaps makes it an even tighter fit around his little rear!  I've never once had a bit of wing droop with this diaper!

The absorbency.  These suckers can hold a LOT!  Like I said before, I'm not really sure how long Stinky should be able to wear a fitted diaper without a cover or a change.  In the RearZ French Velour Fitted, though, Stinky's good to go for at least a couple hours.  Even if he's recently eaten or had a full cup of liquid, he's still got a couple hours before I need to worry that furniture is going to get wet.  When the diaper IS wet on the outside, it's damp, not sopping.

The comfort.  I haven't asked Stinky, but I think he likes the softness of the RearZ French Velour Fitted diaper. (Even if I did ask, he'd shake his head "no."  He doesn't quite get the yes/no thing yet.)  He does like to "pet" this diaper before I put it on him, though.

The construction.  Not only is the RearZ very well made, but it's organic certified!  I like that.  A lot.  I know maybe it's silly (especially coming from a reformed sposie-mom!), but I really like the idea of the products touching my baby's skin being pure and toxin-free!  RearZ does a great job of this!

The fit.  It doesn't get much more trim than this!  The RearZ French Velour could rival...and probably even surpass...any disposable out there for trimness!  Not only that, but the front rise is higher than I see on most diapers, which is GREAT for a heavy wetting boy like Stinky!

The Bad

The gap.  Do you see it?  It's right there in the front.  Maybe it's user error, but when I fasten the RearZ French Velour Fitted onto Stinky, there is always a huge gap at his belly.  I've tried folding the fabric down and tucking it in, but I can't make it comfortable for him that way.  As much as I LOVE the V snaps in the front, I think they make for a funny "pull" in the fabric.  It hasn't effected the performance yet, but I always worry that it will!

The Outcome

I really like the RearZ French Velour Fitted diaper!  Although I was concerned about the V snap pattern (and do still have some issues with it), overall this diaper is GREAT and has suited Stinky very well!  It looks and feels comfy.  It's absorbent and TRIM under clothes!  For only $10 a piece, these diapers are WELL worth the cost!  I'd recommend adding at least a couple to your stash!

The Giveaway

Doesn't your little one's rear deserve some new gear?  RearZ thinks so!  They'd love to share a French Velour Fitted with one of my lucky readers!  Will it be you?

As always, I was given this diaper at no cost to me in order to facilitate a review, but was not compensated in any other way.  All opinions expressed are 100% my own.  Thanks, RearZ!  Love the diaper!

I love a company that gives back! Envibum Review and Giveaway

CLOSED

In a world overrun by greed, I am impressed and blessed when companies, especially small companies, are willing to "give back" in meaningful ways.  Such is the case with a great company I recently found, envibum!  envibum is a wonderful cloth diaper company started by a mom after years of making cloth diapers for her own babies.  Here's my favorite line from the "about us" page on the envibum website: "Our focus is babies health and helping families. We love the benefits of saving the Earth but feel investing in people’s lives is where God’s heart is. "  How powerful!  My experience already with envibum shows me that this truly is where their hearts are, and that they are committed to not only excellence in manufacturing, but excellence in customer relationships and care for people!

The Scoop

I was recently sent an envipolka diaper to review.

The envipolka is just one of the adorable, soft minky diapers from envibum.  envibum makes both pocket diapers and covers.  The diapers and covers are all one size, which I LOVE, and the rise adjustablitiy comes through encased leg elastic.  There are also crossover tabs, which I love, and laundry tabs.  For every diaper sold, envibum donates $2 to a great cause.  The cause to which they donate depends on the diaper.  For the envipolka, like I received, $2 goes to mom4mom ministries.  For every cover sold, envibum donates a cover to mom4mom ministries!

The Good

The absorbency!  I made the "mistake" of putting this diaper on Stinky for the very first time when we were starting out shopping at my aunt's annual neighborhood garage sale.  It's an amazing huge event with street vendors and the like.  Crazy!  At any rate, I put the envipolka on Stinky (with no pants) and strapped him onto my back, where he stayed for the next three hours.  It was risky business, but I did it without thinking.  At the end of the 3 hour walk, I removed Stinky from his carrier and his envipolka had not leaked!  I was very pleasantly surprised.  (This was after just one prep wash!)  In fact, after this, he played for about another hour before I changed him!

The fit!  These diapers are amazing.  When you first open your envibum diaper, particularly if you have a toddler rather than a newborn, you'll think, "There's no WAY that's going to fit on my baby!"  The diapers have that leg elastic rather than snaps to adjust the rise.  While this makes the diapers look small, they are a great fit!  In fact, Stinky is about 25 pounds and wears his envipolka with the tabs nearly touching in the middle!  The fit is truly one of the best I've see.

The attached soaker!  I've seen attached soakers before.  I've even reviewed a couple other diapers with attached soakers.  I LOVE attached soakers because they don't get lost in the wash.  I don't have to pair them up with the correct diapers later.  They're easier in a lot of ways.  This soaker, though?  Amazing.  Not only can you tuck it into the pocket, but you can fold it back the other way and use it more like an insert.  This particular soaker is a great one for potty training because if used as an insert, it allows the toddler to feel the moisture!

The Bad

The VELCRO!  Don't get me wrong.  The velcro on envibum diapers is great!  It holds up well.  It washes well.  It's strong.  But, alas, it's velcro.  Envibum doesn't have a snap option.  I've said it before, I'm a snap lover.  Stinky, on the other hand, LOVES velcro...because he can "work" it.  When we were at my aunt's house for the garage sale, he wore just a tshirt and diaper.  (He was in the carrier all morning and it was HOT.)   Can you guess what he did first when I let him down?  Yep...took off the diaper.  Thank goodness it was just wet!

Overnights.  You all know I have trouble with overnights.  Stinky's a heavy wetter, and I need something super duper absorbent.  There ARE extra inserts for the envibum, and I imagine with an additional insert the diaper would be perfect for us.  He has just a tiny bit of wicking when he wears the envipolka overnight.  It's typically not enough that his bed is actually wet, but I still don't love wet babies!  (I love the babies.  I don't love the wet!)
The Outcome
I am in love with envibum!  I love what they stand for.  I love their professionalism.  I LOVE the diapers!  There are far more positives about the envipolka than I could list here, and the positives outweigh the negatives by far!  When I think of my favorite diapers, this is one of the very top on the list.  Not only is it simply adorable, but it fits great and works even better!  Thank you, envibum, for sending an envipolka for me to review!

Fluffly Friday: Rosebud Diaper Boutique Roots Review and Giveaway

CLOSED

I like fluff.  And I really like fluffy fluff!  The fluffier the better.  By fluffy, I mean soft.  When I opened the bright yellow package from Rosebud Diaper Boutique, I found a super soft ball of fluff!

Yellow is Andrea's "happy color," and she proudly and happily uses it to ship out her wonderful diapers!

The first thing I noticed (besides how cute it is!) is how incredibly soft the inside is!  The inside and the liner are both made of amazingly soft, surprisingly absorbent, bamboo velour.

(The other side of the insert is the same gorgeous lime as the inside of the diaper!)  When I asked Andrea from Rosebud Diaper Boutique what the inside of the Roots diaper is made of, she responded and said, "Squishy ain't it?"  Boy is she ever right!

Now, enough about the feel of the (butter soft) diapers.  The fit is tremendous!  (And no, I don't know why Blogger insists he stand on his head for this pic!)  Stinky is about 24ish (maybe 25?) pounds, so we chose a Roots 2.  The size 1 goes from about 9-20 pounds, and size 2 is for 20 pounds and up.  The Roots diaper by Rosebud Diaper Boutique is SO trim!

It's gotta be that bamboo velour's superior absorption quality or something, but Andrea manages to keep these diapers thin, almost thinner than a disposable diaper, without sacrificing absorbency at all!  Not only is it trim, but there are 4 snaps across each wing, which means you can really get a great custom fit!

AND the wings cross over (even better) AND you can choose whether you want them to cross left over right or right over left!  (I know it looks a little snug in the picture.  I loosened it right after the pic, but then he squirmed too much for another shot!)

Do you want to know my favorite part of this diaper?  (I mean, besides the fact that it's cute, fits perfectly, and is super absorbent?)  My favorite part is that poop slides right off of it.  I think it's got to be the bamboo velour, but I am not kidding when I say that every poo just plops right off, with virtually no residue!  There has been no staining, no stinking...perfection!

What don't I like about this diaper?  You knew I'd go there, didn't you?  What I don't like is that I think the front "tabs" could be a little longer.  You know, I would like them to wrap around the sides just a tad more.  That's it.  That's the only thing I can think of that I would even consider "complaining" about.  I LOVE the Roots diaper from Rosebud Diaper Boutique!

You can purchase your very own Roots diapers from Rosebud Diaper Boutique here on the facebook page, or watch here at the boutique store for their weekly stocking!  Roots diapers are just $20!

Give it away Monday - Doodle Dypes Review and Giveaway!

CLOSED

Every once in a while, a product comes in the mail and from the start I don't know what to say about it.

Such is the case with this diaper from Doodle Dypes.

Isn't it adorable?  I guess that's the first thing I thought.  My sisters were at my house the day I got it, before I'd had a chance to wash it.  We all oohed and ahhed of the adorable, soft fabric.

And the inside is soft, too!  The soaker is different from anything I've ever seen,  It's two long strips, sewn together at the top, and you fold it down to match the exact rise of your little one.  I LOVE that!  All too often, inserts are either too long for the diapers and are bunchy, or are too short and leave gaps where urine can easily leak.  This soaker is perfectly customizable to my little one's ever-changing size!

I adore the fit of this diaper.  It's a little bulkier than a lot of Stinky's other diapers, so it's harder to fit under some of his pants, but I still love it.  The elastic around his little thighs is super stretchy, but he fabric in which it is encased protects his thighs from rubbing.  The wings are a little wider than most of the diapers we have, which I think is great because it doesn't look like it's pinching like some dipes do!It's just a great overall fit.  We have TONS of room to grow in this diaper, too!  Stinky's crossed way over, and so we have tons of room to grow around, and he's got lots of stretch left in the rise as well.

See all the stretch we have left?

Now, let me tell you how great this diaper is.  When I spoke with Sandy from Doodle Dypes, we discussed either a fitted or AI2 diaper.  We never finalized what type of diaper I would receive.  When I got the diaper in the mail and saw that amazing soaker, I assumed it was the AI2, so I used it as such.  In fact, I've been using it as such for several weeks.  A few times I had just a tad bit of moisture on the front after 3-4 hours of wear, and overnight the diaper was SOAKED.  So, I emailed Sandy again this past week to confirm what type of diaper it is.

Folks, this is a FITTED diaper!  It's supposed to have a cover!  No wonder there was a slight amount of moisture!  No wonder it didn't work overnight!  Crazy mama!  So, I can attest to this diaper's awesome absorbency.  3-4 of daytime wear later, this diaper is still usually dry to the touch, even with my super soaker!  And overnight...once I figured out the need for the soaker...is no different!  This diaper has an amazing amount of absorbency!

I can not think of a single bad thing to say about this diaper.  I simply can't.  I am in love with the Doodle Dypes fitted diaper!  I'd love to try the AI2 as well; I've added it to my "wishlist."

You'll love the Doodle Dypes diapers too!  I'm sure of it.  What adorable, great fitting, super absorbent diapers!  Try one!  You won't be disappointed.

Even better...ONE of you will win a 30% off code to use on either a single custom order diaper or a diaper from the Doodle Dypes Hyena Shop!  The next stocking at the shop is scheduled for June 1st!  (Contest will end and a winner will be drawn May 31, 2011 at 11:59am EST.)
