Now, don't get me wrong. I enjoy knowing that some of you read my words faithfully every day, sometimes more than once a day. I love it that what I say is worthwhile enough that it is read over 1800 times each month. I love getting little comments here and there telling me you enjoy reading my words. But seriously. This is NOT for you. It's for me. And if no one every read my words again, I think I'd keep writing them. (But let's not try that, okay?)
I've been thinking about writing this morning, and more specifically about blogging. I've been pondering what I like to see in a blog, how I like it to be formatted, what annoys me...and I have come to realize that my own blog is annoying! There's no rhyme or reason to it. Nothing is scheduled or planned. I sit down in my "office" (read: recliner) during naptime, throw something together, and put it out there for the world to see. Maybe this week it's Tuesday and we did a cool project in the morning that I want to tell you about. Or it's Tuesday and my kid said something funny I want to tell you about. Or it's Tuesday and I did my taxes and want to complain about it. Who knows? You never know what you might find when you pop into my blog!
Maybe you like that, maybe you don't. But like I said, it annoys me. I'm the kind of girl that likes to know that every Thursday when I look at your blog, there's going to be a new picture of something Crazy Aunt Edna did this week. I like to know that every Monday when I look at your blog there'll be a story about what your silly monkeys ate for breakfast. I'm the kind that likes to know that on Saturdays you'll tell me how many socks you left unmatched that week. I like routines! So I will be working on a "schedule" of sorts. It'll be a loose one, I think. It'll be written in sand, because sometimes I will go off topic and don't want to feel like I've let my readers down!
So, here's where I need you! I want to know what you love about your favorite blogs! I've got some things up my sleeve, mind you, but I want to know what you like! Is there a special weekly feature you'd like to see?
AND I want to hear what you don't like. Maybe you don't even like predictable blogs. I won't be offended if you tell me that information, either.
What do you want to see?

Just remember, you can't schedule what God puts on your heart. Don't get frustrated if you need to chase a wild rabbit from time to time. It is all OK, as long as you are following God's lead.
i like kbilleys comment. i also like random. i like your blog as it is. schedules are for schedulers. bah!
I like the wy you do the blog now. Its more interesting to not expect what your going to read.
Well, I guess I have to make it unanimous. I don't have any problems with your blog! I like not knowing what you're going to write about each day. I'm not really against organization, but sometimes it gets to be too...well...ORGANIZED! Follow God's lead and write it how you feel He wants you to, but please know that organization is not a requirement. (At least not to me!)
There's several things I like about your blog. Mainly your sincerity and uniqueness. I especially enjoy reading about what activities you've done with the kids and of course the pics that you post along with them. You're an amazing mom/teacher/writer! Please continue what your doing.
Wow...thanks, everyone! It sounds like none of you are as annoyed by my disorganization nearly as much as I am! I guess that's good to know.
You are now all a little more welcome at my house, too...there's a serious lack of organization going on in that part of my life as well!
Elizabeth, you are a great read! I am always amazed and entertained by what you write. I do so much enjoy all the personal insights you write about your family. I think it is especially wonderful how you always give God the credit for everything. I quote your blog...lol! Keep up the good work, I love you and am proud of you.
Okay, so here's what I think is annoying.. I hate putting in codes to make my comments post
Do you have to do that on my blog? Hmmm...sorry!
I think it is awesome that you write for you, and not to please any specific audience. That is the benefit of blogging versus a newspaper column, for example, and it keeps it authentic.
My two cents is that I like blogs that are organic, that change and flow with what is going on in people's lives... It keeps them fresh. My preference for blog posts are to have ones with a little more meat to them. Use that cute thing your kid said as a lead in to something else, as opposed to having it stand alone.
If you really want to schedule things a little more, you could try writing when the spirit so moves you, but scheduling posts to appear on certain days of the week. Something like cute things your kids said out on Fridays, projects on Mondays, and introspective stuff on Wednesdays... Just a thought.
Thanks for your insight, Lisa! And hi, by the way! I've been checking out your blog, too! (I'm your newest follower.) Congrats on the new baby! I bet you're anxious!
I'm jealous of your diaper stash. All I have are covers and prefolds at this point. My 3rd baby is 11 months old and he's the 1st I've cloth diapered...AND it's just been the last 3-4 months! I'm building up, but will mostly stick with the covers and prefolds for cost effectiveness.
Again, hi and welcome!
i like to read posts that are just someone's thoughts, or funny stories. i don't like the short entries. i'm here to read. every saturday my sister does "six word saturday". she only writes six words. sometimes it's too cryptic and sometimes it's so intriguing i want to know more, but she never expounds! it's different from wordless wednesday, sometimes a picture says it all. also, i like the random posts. if it's too formatted it can get boring. you try to write something to fit the format instead of write something to be interesting. also, i love craft blogs. i love "before and after" pictures. anyway, those are my thoughts.
