30 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 3

She loved snowmen and children and the beach.  She always had a smile on her face and her ears were always ready to listen.  She had a warm heart and a cheerful presence.  She is already greatly missed.

Today I am thankful for the life and influence of The Hubby's aunt, Jerri.  Jerri was a sweet sweet woman who was loved by everyone.  Everyone.  She was so gracious and hospitable.  When we stopped by her house unexpectedly, she welcomed us with open arms and a snack.  She was a wonderful mother, sister, wife, aunt, grandmother.  She was amazing.

Aunt Jerri passed away last Friday.  Some say she lost her battle with cancer.  I say she won her battle with life.  I bet Jesus was waiting there for her with a snack and a handful of seashells.  Aunt Jerri is no longer in pain, and her purpose here on earth has been fulfilled.  Heaven surely welcomed you with open arms!  We'll miss you here on this side of eternity, but we'll anxiously await the day when we can meet up with you again in "forever."  Godspeed, Aunt Jerri!  We miss you and love you!

Dear Lord, thank you so much for putting family into my life, specifically Aunt Jerri.  I am so much better for having been able to call her my aunt.  I learned a lot from her about love and laughter.  I am forever thankful that you placed her in just the right spot so that, if even for a brief while, her life would intertwine with mine.  Thank you, also, for releasing her from her pain and welcoming her into Your gracious, loving arms.  We don't understand your timing, in our limited view, but we do understand that your timing is always perfect.  Thank you, Lord, for Aunt Jerri's life!
